It depends whether you are having any other underlying medical condition or side effects of illicit drug dependence. If you are not a drug addict, then this is my personal experience, I successfully overcomed insomnia but following these steps.
    1) stop thinking that you have insomnia
    2) try to be physically active
    3) Before going to bed you should NOT have shower. (because it stimulates your senses and keeps your body awake)

    before going to bed:-
    4) Consume hot food, (bit more than normal quantity)
    5) Empty your urinary bladder
    6) Drink a glass of hot milk
    7) Don’t try to close your eye lids forcefully. It will naturally shut automatically. 8) IMPORTANT: keep your body warm using enough blankets and also cover your face. Because cold waves will not allow you to sleep.

My first advice would be to see you primary car physican to rule out any organic medical problems, as there are many underlying causes of insomnia. As someone who has suffered from it myself I can share my experience.
Picking a time to unwind and sticking with it is really important. Go to bed and wake up around the same time everyday. Take an hour or 2 to relax, before laying down. Relax however you can-playing simple games, reading, journaling, doing puzzles, warm baths etc. and no television or telephone during that time.
Make sure your bedroom is at a cool comfortable temp for sleeping.
A good calcium/magnesium supplement about an hour before I got to bed helps a lot. Take up to 1000mg calcium, 500mg magnesium every night.
A homeopathic remedy called Calms Forte made by Hylands helps too, just follow the directions on the bottle.
I’ve also had good experience with an herb called Valerian…you can get it at almost any health store.
Be careful with the melatonin. If you take too much for long periods of time it can actually cause your body to stop producing it’s own for a while, which will cause insomnia itself. You can also have rebound insomnia from stoping meds like Lunesta, Ambien(zolpiden) which can take a while to recover from.
For me the bed schedule cured me along with the calcium/magnesium.
I wish you the best and hope this helps.

Well I tried different herbal remedies but didn`t really help at all.
The main thing is whatever you do DON`T GO ON COMPUTER at least 2 hrs. if not more before bedtime. Stimulates the brain, then you`ll never get to sleep.
After searching google for alongtime I ended up discovering that it is often a brainwave thing, as in the brain being busy can`t go down through the levels to get to the delta level which we need to sleep.
I ended up getting a CD which when played takes you down to the delta state to induce sleep. Was very helpful for me. You can have a free read about this at http://tinyurl.com/mvu2a3
Also keep yourself fairly quiet before bedtime, don`t do what I do & watch an exciting football game!! LOL

There are herbs that might help you to sleep, eg, valerian root, kava kava, chamomile, hops, passion flower, skullcap. Probably, valerian root and kava kava are the best. However, what most people don’t realize is that it can take a few weeks for some herbs to build up in your system before they work.

The minerals calcium and magnesium might be helpful for sleep. You can also try 5-HTP or trytophan. Just recently, I have read positive reports about GABA tea, which is from Japan and Taiwan. You can google it for info.

What helped me a lot to fall asleep, especially when my mind was racing, was to lie in bed and listen to relaxation CDs, especially those that contain someone speaking with relaxing music in the background. The combination of voice and music is very soothing. Many of these CDs are available on eBay for very low prices.

A warm bath is a great way to help you to sleep. If you can’t take a bath, you can give yourself a foot massage with slightly warm massage oil, sesame oil, or castor oil from a health food store.

A helpful technique is to relax your body one part at a time. So you could relax your feet, your lower legs, upper legs, moving up from your lower belly up to your chest, etc., until your whole body is relaxed.

Of course, guided relaxation methods can help, imagining yourself in the country, the beach, or whatever is most soothing to you.

If you have annoying thoughts or personal issues that run through your mind when you are trying to sleep, you might have to deal with those issues first. You might want to talk to a counselor or therapist about that. I suggest avoiding prescription sleeping pills unless nothing else helps.

I take 5htp, passiflora and valerian at night.

A combined magnesium and calcium supplement is also useful as it will act as a natural relaxant.

Hot milk and Horlicks are also effective.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol for about 3 hours prior to going to bed.

    Hi there,

In addition to the annual dental exam and cleaning, brushing your kitty's teeth is one of the best ways to help keep tartar away. Your vet can easily teach you to do this. My cats don't mind it at all. We began slowly, and they are fine with it now.

Actually, dental "treats" are not that great for our cats' teeth. Read this interesting article written by a vet which thoroughly explains it. Until I read it, I was giving my guys "greenies" but the article makes perfect sense, especially since cats don't really chew hard food that well. Their teeth are not designed for grinding, so food gets stuck in between their teeth causing further problems. I quote from the article and the link is below.
"Due to processed commercial foods (including dry biscuits or treats), our pet population is experiencing tartar build-up and subsequent periodontal disease as one of the number one health concerns today. Both the dry commercial kibble AND the canned food are major culprits in the decline of our pets health and that certainly includes their dental health."

I give my cats raw neck bones now and then, which they love to "chew on". It is good exercise for their jaws as well.

There are some antiseptic products now on the market which vets have available at their clinics, which can be put on cotton or gauze and rubbed on the cat's gums and teeth.

Glad you are interested in this subject. Your cats will be happy about that as well, with strong, sound teeth.

Gabbert was ahead of Luck in every department prior to this past season. Blaine was a 5 star recruit rated #1 among pro style QBs, Luck was 4 star and rated #4 among pro style QBs. From the same All American camps.

Gabbert’s first two years in college were much more impressive than Luck’s.
    ——————————————————
    WHAT?????

Luck was a Heisman finalist in his 2nd year (he is a redshirt Soph) AND would be the clear cut #1 pick if he had decided to come out.

Gabbert is a nice QB prospect but is not at Luck's level right now, I don't care what they were coming out of High School. Luck has benefitted from NFL caliber coaching and playing in a Pro Style system while Gabbert is playing in a Spread.

Really, I wish some of you would read what you write before you post it.
