What are some natural ways to cure insomnia?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 by

Lately I’ve had lots of trouble sleeping. Everytime I lay day my mind starts wandering and makes it impossible for me to rest. I don’t wanna take sleeping pills because they make me feel very tired the next day.

Any Suggestions?
And I work 2nd shift so I don’t get off work till 11:00 pm.
That should say lay down :)

5-htp is a great supplement for sleep. I found a really good one at this website. Other ones I tried did not work as well. Other supplements that help are GABA and Melatonin but the last one, you have to use just every once in a while or it stops working. Also, make sure your room is REALLY dark. You can’t make your own melatonin unless it is really dark, no little lights glowing, no street lights shining in the windows! Good Luck!

would you consider the "herb" melatonin a sleeping pill? it can be had at "GNC" type stores or any vitamin shop. it comes in 2 strengths, 1mg and 3mg. I have found that if I pop a 3mg at 8pm, I can be out by 10 and awake at 6am fresh as ever. btw, melatonin is a naturally occurring chemical in your body, taking the pill is nothing more than taking a vitamin in the morning, you are just boosting the level for a small period of time.

The other method is let yourself stay up until you are ready to crash. Since stopping taking the melatonin, I will stay up until 2-3am and then just crash. I wake up at 6-6:30am every day just fine, sleep in on the weekends until 9-10am.

other than that, you can try going running/exercising or sitting with someone talking about anything on your mind, ease the stress some off yourself.

    ‘Insomnia" by Hyland’s
There are some good reviews written by customers who use it.
I have some at home, I have tried the other sleep aid by Hyland’s the "calms forte" and that really helped me too.

Heres what I do because I suffer from the same thing. Concentrate on 1 aspect. Something silly, not work or life related.

What I use to do is, I would think of the perfect play list for my favorite band to perform, what the stage should look like, things of that nature. Once you concentrate on 1 aspect, your mind wont wonder

Perhaps anxiety is the cause of your insomnia

The symptoms of insomnia include having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep for a long period of time; interrupted sleep and waking up in the early morning hours and having trouble falling back to sleep.

Anxiety and insomnia are closely related as one can trigger the other. When you don’t get the necessary rest required for you mind and both your brain does not think clear yet it tries and in this process you get anxiety and panic attacks. Anxiety and insomnia are often experienced together due to this reason.

The same process happens in reverse when you are suffering from anxiety attacks you will experience problems in your sleeping pattern, which will cause insomnia. Therefore, treating one disorder will usually resolve the other in the process.

Try a over the counter med. called melotonin.

My brother had brain surgery last oct. and he found that this helps him with racing thoughts and helps him sleep naturally. Your body makes melotonin , this med releases more to promote sleep.

I used to have difficulties in sleeping to a few months back but I wouldn’t recommend medicine or sleeping pills as it will weaken your body day by day and will probably eventually kill you.

Usually you have difficulty in sleeping because you are probably worried about something and it bothers your mind that keeps you awake. whatever it is I suggest you to take a break. And spend less time on the computer as using computer too much will affect you terrible such as loss of memory, etc.

If that’s not it then check the temperature of your room and check your bed, (you just might find some springs poking you all night)

If you really have an insomnia problem, then don’t try to cure it. You can never stay awake for more than 3 days, so you will naturally have to sleep after 3 days. If you really want to cure it, try something that always worked with me. If you have a TV with a timer, then set it to close in about 3 hours, and then just lie on the couch and watch some TV. You will almost instantly fall asleep, and then, after 3 hours, the TV will automatically close.

    Cheers!

Many Yappers here have suggested good natural ones, including the Hyland’s Insomnia and Calms Forte, melatonin, and 5HTP. I would try valerian, too. It works for me. Before you try any of our suggestions, I recommend that you talk with your doctor so any of the things that we have suggested do not interact with any other drugs that you may be taking.

You can try relaxing by first slowly releasing tension in your toes, then your feet, and so on, working your way up the body. Then, when a thought pops into your head, imagine blowing it away. Do this as long as needed until you run out of thoughts. Then close your eyes and think of absolutely nothing. if this doesn’t work, try staring at the wall until your eyes can no longer stay open. Every night it will get a little easier, I promise. Good Luck!

Yes, we are well aware of that. However, the bible also tells us to correct our brother when he is wrong so, based on that, would it not be hateful of us if we allowed people to walk straight into hell when we could possibly have pointed them towards a way of finding God and His truth and thus preventing such a catastrophe?

Some people think that 'correcting' is 'judging or condemning' but they are not the same at all. Correcting is done in love the other two are usually done through self-righteousness.

The best way is to make sure he has enough food, and to let him sleep.

Organic food, vitamins, exercise, and fruit all help build the stat back faster, but only rest and relaxation can really cure it.

Make sure you don't start the game during it's "night" time so you don't prevent the rest. BUT make sure you keep going in everyday, because if he catches another cold, it might kill him before you notice.

You can do a lot, most in fact, of the landscaping yourself. There are plenty of resources available at your local library, on the internet and even on TV (HGTV). The big thing is to get a plan developed and put on paper (or in a retrievable file) and then you can work on it as budget, time and enthusiasm allows. We have been working with some homeowners for 5 years or more on the implementation of their plans. Good Luck.
