Does anyone know how I can go to sleep naturally?

Saturday, October 17th, 2009 by

without resorting to pills and what not….its just that whenever I go to bed, Im feeling tired but all these stupid and meaningless thoughts come into my head, and I stay awake for hours thinkin about them…

its really ruining my quality of life and I’m always in a mood, my friends are all saying that I’ve "changed" at 1st I didnt realise what they were saying but think it might be related to my lack of sleep…any help would be much welcome…thank-you…

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

Try Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea. It’s the one with the bear on the front. It has Chamomile and Lavender. I love it!

You can try deep breathing techniques which will relax you(breath slow and very deep). Also, try not to dwell on the fact that you are having trouble sleeping. If you can’t sleep for awhile get up and do something else for a little bit. There is also a supplement called Melatonin. Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone in your body. At night melatonin is produced to help our bodies regulate our sleep-wake cycles. Sometimes not enough is produced. You can try taking some melatonin, which added with the deep breathing exercises, may help you get to sleep. You can by find Melatonin tablets at almost any health store or even at your local pharmacy.

    Good luck!

I know the feeling! I had severe insomnia for 9 months. took all manner of pills. People say to try meditation and things. None of this ever worked for me. Things like massage might help. If you can reduce the stress it may help you sleep. I still have problems but its worse when I am stressed. I can sleep semi normally sometimes now but I was never the same. I just can’t get that tired feeling. I feel like I’m awake all the time.

ok, well, i have a tendancy to not be able to fall asleep until 12 or 1 in the morning, but I feel tired. SO there are different ways to fall asleep without pills: tense your whole body as much as you can then let go, try it again and again, close your eyes and think of something happy, count sheep lol or whatever, watch a funny, movie before you go to bed, do something strenuous during the day, that you know will make you tired alter (like a football game or excercising, etc.), or bundle up, clear your mind, think of nothing except sleeping/dreaming

I was having trouble sleeping last year, my chiropractor told me that drinking a glass of red wine would help, which it did. I also tried some other natural ways, like chamomile tea, sleepy time tea. Some others that might help are vitamins, Karva Karva, Rest EZ( a maleleuca product), melatonin, Valerian and passion flower. The main reason I tried them is that I still wasn’t falling right to sleep. But after much suffering without sleep, I found the best thing to do is to get on a regular schedule of going to bed at 10:00 to 10:30. It seems to be when I doze off naturally. If trying the vitamins and teas are not for you, try going to bed on a more regulated schedule and maybe relaxation techniques. It might help. Good luck!!

Ehhh! I've never followed this advice and nothing bad has ever happened to me.

I would advise moving with the traffic – that means foot traffic, of course! New Yorkers do tend to walk faster than people from out of town and we do get a bit annoyed at people sauntering in front of us, blocking the sidewalk when we're trying to get to work! (Think of it as someone doing 20 in a 50 mile an hour speed zone!)

But as for the rest, I make eye contact, I look around, I take an interest in what is around me. I even talk to people I don't know occassionally. It's cool!

So don't be put off by all this stuff. New Yorkers are more friendly than we seem. But we do like to walk and don't like people stopping in the middle of the sidewalk to tourist about. If you must stop, go nearer to a building to get out of the flow of traffic. (I'm still trying to get my 12 year old to understand this! LOL!)

Regardless of whether they're mentally challenging or mentally retarded, the purpose of music books and art is escapism. Think about it, when you're stressed out and need a break you watch a movie, play some music, read a book, draw a picture. It's an essential part of our society in that it stops people from going insane with stress and worry. And look at folklore&tradition from any country, all societies have always seen entertainment as important. Now get over yourself.

I have 2 children 13 yrs apart and they are now 3 and 16 yrs old. My pediatrician told me not to do it when my oldest was a baby and if I felt I should try it to make sure she cried no more than 2 minutes. My son was born prematurely and I was told not to do it at all under any circumstances with him.

I never did, thy both around 12 months went through a period of wanting to wake up to play in the middle of the night and I set up a cot near their cribs and after a week with my daughter and 2 weeks with my son when they would wake up I would make believe that I was sleeping they learned that it was sleep time.

No crying and no disrupting Daddy.

The notion of you have to let a baby cry is so old fashioned/out dated and wrong. They have proven that the more a baby cries the easier it is for them to be likely to get high blood pressure when they grow up as well as other anxiety disorders.

Neither of my children cried unless there was a serious reason and neither are spoiled they just know that when they need me or Dad we will be there for them. They have security and feel safe in our home.
