Do Methods For Quitting Smoking Help?

As an unwilling smoker who wants to quit smoking you commit a basic mistake. You are in search for methods to quit smoking. What you need is a method to quit smoking. If you contemplate more than one method, perhaps you are not going to follow any one of them with determination. And without determination, you will not be able to quit smoking.

Of these methods, now you have to decide which one is most suitable for you. There is nothing like easy method and the hard method. The first month of your decision is going to be tough. If you sail through this tough stormy sea, calm waters may greet you ahead.

Now, you have a well devised plan and you are brimming with motivation. In the beginning you need to take the assistance of quit-smoking aids. These may give you some psychological edge, but in reality it will not help. In the first month, you will count each day and perhaps each hour of the day.

You are stressed, beyond the limit?and yet, you need to tolerate. Diet-planning can wait, but in the meantime make a time table for physical exercises, and for breathing exercises. Have fixed hours of sleep. One good point about you, the smoker is that you don’t smoke, while asleep, except in dreams.

Advertise a lot in your family, with your friends, in your office, that you are no more a smoker. Earnestly solicit the support of your well-wishers and family members in your effort to quit smoking.

When the urge becomes difficult to resist, that is the time to resist! Take a book on horror- fiction, sit on the computer, take a bath, go to the kitchen and start cooking your favorite dish.

All the tobacco products need to be out of bound for you. Destroy the existing stock. Never think of gifting them to your still smoking friends. That which is not beneficial for your health, how can it help their cause?

With your solid determination in tact, no harm is there in your taking recourse to smoking aids. Zyban, which is a prescription medicine, reduces your craving for nicotine. You can also try some herbal equivalents of Zyban and they do not require prescription, and they will do you some good. You can also take recourse to laser treatment.

But keep your will power in tact. Nothing to beat it. Will power is like the constitutional guarantee to an individual. You await a glorious time, full of inner freedom, totally devoid of smoke coils.

Good for you, better for people around you and the best happening, all things considered!

    what are your experiences with quitting smoking methods?
    patches, gums, laser, snuze, success rate and or advice on any or all… cold turkey tips will help as well
    also I don’t know if this is the right category to ask any suggestiions on a better category to ask will be helpful

    I smoked for 5 years and what made me quit is myself. I couyldn’t do it for anyone else, as that was proven only to blow up in my face. I quit cold turkey. It was hard, but the key for me was to surround myself with non smokers and to keep wearing nice smelling stuff. Like perfumes. Because the smell of smoking is not a good one. It was hard but actually keeping yourself busy when craving one helps. I chewed alot of gum and never went anywhere without it.

    Quitting Smoking is probably one of the hardest things to do!
    I first cut down and then quit. It’s best to surround yourself with non-smokers for the first couple months. If people aren’t smoking around you, you will be less likely to have an urge for a cig.
    Try chewing some sugar free gum or candy.
    It gets easier with time and you will feel much better in the long run!

    I only smoked for 2 yrs and to quit was soooo challenging I have a two and three yr old so you could only imagine but just try mind over matter ????? read lots eat candy canes… I gained 11 pounds!!! lol

    You can try all the stop-smoking aids that are out there, but willpower is the ultimate ingredient to quit smoking. If you are truly ready to quit, you will have no problems overcoming the withdrawal symptoms. Just take it one day at a time. Good luck to you!

    I need assistance to get over the initial anxiety. I quit for three years the first time, I tried cold turkey but after a day I went and bought the gum. It was such sweet relief, that it really illustrated how addicted I was. I used the nicotine gum for awhile perhaps a month and a half then I gradually switched to plain gum. Like I said that lasted for 3 years it was easy because I lived far away from close friends who did smoke. Then when I started again I smoked for about 4 years. Last winter about a year ago I quit because I wanted to have a surgery and the Doctor wouldn’t do it unless I quit smoking. It affects the cardiovascular system, which basically kills small arteries, this would greatly reduce my ability to heal. So I quit, using the prescription Chantix. This drug closes your neuro transmitters from receiving the nicotine. It worked well, I would recommend either of the methods I used but I believe the addiction is gonna be a life long battle.

    I tried to quite smoking,i don’t how many times.I liked the classes,they help me understand why i smoke.But i couldn’t finish the class,because of family business. I tried the nicorat gum, chew three times and place it between gum and cheek.Like who chew gum that way and were i place the gum in my mouth Next thing i need a root cannel,hum i wounder if it had thing to do with the gum. Then i went cold turkey, three days with out a cigarette, I passed out..Laser treatment good for a day,the stuff they put in your nose did wonders.But a crisis came up some one lit a cigarette up and bang back to smoking. the class was right i smoke because , monkey see monkey do. the patch is good but the monkey came out in me. Some tips brush your teeth when craving for a smoke or water rubber band around wrist when craving pull gentle and let go.Try your dams to stay a way from smoker i learnt we don’t crave for a smoke when we sleep,because are brain hold the nicotine and slow reasle when the body craves for it. My self I;m looking for a hypnosis,now i seen that work.I was at a party were a friend was hypnosis and ask him if he wanted a cigarette,and he started cluck like a chicken.Funny as it seem,he never touch the cigarette.
