Calogel™: Lose Weight While You Sleep

Thursday, October 15th, 2009 by

When purchasing any weight loss product, it is important to do your research. Many people are exchanging their opinions about Calogel on DietBlogTalk.com

For an additional source, check out Calogel on the very popular Sensational.com

Overview

Calogel™ is a diet product designed to be taken prior to bed—3 pills each night. The product uses a few simple ingredients and claims to be all natural with no side effects. Calogel™ claims not only to help the dieter lose weight, but also help the body detoxify itself naturally. Sellers of this product claim that it contains no stimulants, appetite suppressants, or any other typical diet ingredients. The product is designed to support the body’s natural ability to lose weight.

Calogel™ claims that even without stimulants one will feel more energy. There doesn’t appear to be an official website for Calogel™ but there are several seller websites. Each seller website has testimonies by actual customers, but no information from the manufacturer. The product retails for around $50 for a one month supply.

Ingredients at a Glance

According to sellers of Calogel™ there are two main ingredients Collagen and Conjugated Linoleic Acid. There are no stimulants in the formula so it’s safe to take it prior to bed.

Ingredients in Focus

Calogel™ is a natural Marine Collagen Hydrolysate protein that occurs naturally in the body. The manufacturer claims that Collagen has various functions in the body including improving skin health and wrinkles, being part of building and maintaining lean muscle mass, and supporting weight loss. However, there is very little science to verify this. Collagen is an insufficient protein to be able to support lean muscle mass. What is known is that Collagen functions as a buffer for joints, tendons, and ligaments. The sellers of this product claim that the Collagen in Calogel™ is already broken down to a state in which the body can easily absorb it. We don’t know if you will lose weight, but your skin and aches and pains may be improved.

The other ingredient in Calogel™ Conjugated Linoleic Acid is a fatty acid that occurs naturally in meats and some plants such as Sunflowers. Many diet pill companies purport that it has powerful weight loss and muscle building capabilities – but we have yet to see an outpouring of support from the dieting public at large.

Positives

•    Calogel™ doesn’t contain any stimulants.

Negatives

•    The ingredients in Calogel™ don’t have scientific evidence supporting their effectiveness.
•    There is no official manufacturer website.
•    The cost of Calogel™ is quite expensive.

Final Thoughts

The idea of having a diet pill that can be taken before bed as opposed to during the day is welcome by many dieters, especially because there are no stimulants. However, the ingredients in Calogel™ have yet to prove their effectiveness. Science doesn’t support the claims that Callogen can build or support lean muscle mass and help one lose weight. Usually diets that are high in protein use a complete protein such as whey or soy. Collagen is an incomplete protein and lacks some of the necessary amino acids. These programs are usually successful when used in conjunction with healthy diet and exercise.  There are weight loss supplements available that contain ingredients to support fat burning and appetite control which may bring better and faster results.

Does Calogel (lose weight while you sleep!) really work?

It works wonders. By using this gel you have less money in your wallet which means you now weigh less than you did before which is great. But there’s more. Once you buy it you also get the bonus of not having as much money as you did which means you can’t buy as much food as you did before which means you eat less and therefore lose even more weight.

Honestly, things like this are a scam. Yes, you might actually lose some weight and a few inches but it’s going to be water weight. You drink a few glasses of water and you’re back up to where you were.

I found this reference on page 75 in "The Dialect of Hartland, Devonshire" by Richard Pearse Chope, published for the English Dialect Society in 1891:

Stommick — Appetite, stomach. A common salutation at mealtimes is "Gude stommick to ee, wan an' all."

In the context of "All the King's Men," the crowd is joking around when the Boss says he isn't going to make a speech, remarking that wouldn't be worse than having boils. However, no one actually "has" boils it is simply a yahoo out in the crowd yelling back "Boils on the tail." That's when Willie tells the jokester to like on his stomach and go t sleep.

It's dialect, but it simply means "stomach."

It is basically over exertion, kind of like when you get sore from over working or straining a muscle. The vocal cords can also suffer from this and it takes time to heal once it occurs.

No idea!!! The thing is, no one knows if it was really cancelled…

In Wikipedia, the Status of the show is “Ended”
